Movie Paul from 2011 is getting so many downloads for some reason 480.73.
Anyone have an explantion as to why?
Its a great movie! Get onboard, do the lemming thing and follow.
(Sometimes a label is a distraction. expand your mind.)
Actor Paul Giamatti won a Golden Globe recently so maybe some search engine autosuggest when “movie Paul” is typed before his last name sends people off on a tangent?
Honestly, I don’t even remember it being that funny. I haven’t gave it a second thought since its release. The power of social media marketing, I guess.
If you’ve never seen Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, I’d encourage you instead to take a look at Shown of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz, both really good movies.
It’s not great.
Thanks. Ill download it now
Perhaps some Youtube’s done a video on it… I feel like I’ve seen a headline or link saying something like “Why Paul is underrated” recently.
I didn’t know there was an extended version, do the extra 6 minutes add anything? Maybe not
Probably just an extra six minutes of Seth Rogan’s annoying laugh.
Thing that gets me. This is the 720p version… surely people would want the 1080p version? Lol
I usually watch the movie on my PC and my setup is plain stereo with a non-FullHD monitor, so… not much point in downloading 1080p 🤷.
😯non full HD in 2023? How do you handle such low res?
Meeh, doesn’t really bother me 🤷. I usually just use the default settings in whatever DE in Linux (I usually use xfce, but I’ve switched when I felt like it, if I’m getting bored and wanna try something new 😂), or change a few font sizes here and there and all is good 🤷. Regarding Windows (I dual boot), I don’t really care that much to be honest, I rarely use it the past few years. I only use it for work and only when I have to do some things from home or when I need to use some obscure piece of software that just doesn’t work in Wine.
So… no, I don’t really see a reason to buy a bigger monitor. Actually, I haven’t bought a monitor for ages, like probably 20 years 😂, all of the ones I currently use are salvaged from one pserson or another - they wanna trade up, they give me their old monitor 😂. I don’t complain, they’re still usable for me 🤷.
I appreciate you for preventing eWaste by reusing 🤩 that is awesome! I myself use the old macbookpro and iMacs from my father running Linux :D it’s great to live in a time where one can get such powerful computing devices for free 😇 But for watching movies and series, I really appreciate higher resolution and don’t feel satisfied if it is less than 1080 (more if we talking 25" plus)
To be honest, I just love reusing old stuff and giving it new meaning ☺️. And fixing stuff too. Sure, they will eventually be worthless, but I try and extend their life as much as possible ☺️.
Regarding the movies thing, each to his own 🤷 😉. I don’t judge. Hell, even I sonetimes download 1080p and watch that on my TV, but it’s mostly a special case scenario, like some good movie I’ve wanted to watch for a long time, but never got around to it, or something like.
So if you have newer nvidia based card you can upscale to 4K based off 7 20p
The result is closer to 1440 p
What, what? How and can I do it over Plex? Got a link, please?
But, why not just download the 1080p version? Instead of doing the whole upscaling thing?
Because you can download faster and then upscale instantaneously
You’d need to have a wire made of bamboo to justify the 2gb more.
And with the added resolution you can even better scale it up.Except it looks like shit compared to just getting a 1080 version.
Really? That thing works? Like no pixelization?
I’ve used my 3090 with Nvidia super resolution just watching old shit I downloaded back in the LimeWire days that for some reason I was still holding on to and the result is not perfect but it is pretty decent.
For instance I had a copy of chobits that was probably in hell 240i resolution or something, and with Nvidia super resolution it looks only vaguely indistinguishable from the 720p stuff you can stream online.
Of course, when you use Nvidia super resolution with the 720p stuff it looks stellar, so higher resolution by default wins over AI up resolution but it works in a pinch
Wow, that is really impressive. I would love to see a few screenshots with comparisons.
Also wonder why AMD hasn’t jumped on that train as well 🤔.
It’s the same general thing as DLSS in games. Saying 720p > 4k upscaled is comparable to 1440p is pushing it a bit, but overall the tech’s pretty impressive.
Have no idea what DLSS is 😂, don’t really play games (meeh, an oddball here and there, every 7, 8 years or so).
But I did read about this new tech Nvidia had and I thought it was just BS to be honest. Turns out it’s not. Good for us. If it’s that good, I guess it could be used to process old SD recordings to make them look at least 720p, which of course is a lot better than plan SD.
This could also come in handy when processing archived material in TV.
Unfortunately the results of, say, 240p > 720p tend to be nowhere near as impressive as 720p > 1440p. Just not enough info for it to play with.
720 is dvd quality… which is good enough for most people… plus the file size is much smaller… plus a lot of people watch shit on their phones anyways
It’s the one about a stoner alien?
On January 11 (in Canada) a Paul prequel tv show will be released, perhaps all the interest isbeing generated by marketing for that shows release
What is the name of the show? I’m interested but unable to find articles about the show or who’s in it.
Omg its a ted prequel tv show I saw a billboard for, not Paul, sorry I have no idea about the Paul movie interest
My mistake!
Wait, what!!??!?!
Yeah there’s gunna be a prequel tv show for the ted movie with someone else playing the younger version of mark Wahlbergs character. It’s out January 11. I only saw the billboard on my way to work though.
Not even sure if Seth MacFarlane will still voice ted but hope so otherwise that will be… Not a good show IMO
I’ve downloaded it 100 times just for the lols
Maybe something to do with the 10 foot tall aliens down in Florida? 🤷🏻♂️
This is the third time I’ve seen this referenced. I looked this up and now I feed stupider for having read anything about it.
