It’s definite progress, but as a millennial it’s still disheartening how many people I know in my generation are openly racist, sexist, authoritarian conservatives, often under the guise of “libertarianism.”
Im convinced we will have our own behavioral reckoning with microplastics eventually. These things don’t just do nothing. There will be a trend of changes it causes and that trend will be discovered sooner or later.
They are gathering in our reproductive organs and reducing birth rates. That, and kids are being more responsible means we probably will have a population collapse at some point.

You can see examples of just how slow-motion by looking at Japan and South Korea, or China with the ripple effects of the one-child policy only now starting to be observed en masse. Same with many countries in Europe, like Italy and Greece. The US would be experiencing it in slow motion right now, but we make up for the difference through immigration.

It would be pretty funny if microplastics had a positive effect on our bodies. It would be an interesting moral dilemma.
