Kamala Harris’s political adviser Karen Dunn seems to have the unusual ability to exist in two places at once. Last week, she both prepped Harris in Pittsburgh for tonight’s presidential debate against Donald Trump, and prepped legal defense strategy in an Alexandria, Virginia, courtroom for Google, which is facing a monopolization lawsuit brought by Harris’s own administration. The first day of the Google trial began Monday, with Dunn, a partner with firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, giving the opening statement in court.

I’m not sure how Uber is relevant to Google’s antitrust case, they’re two different companies in two different sectors. Google does not have a ride-sharing service.

Maybe changing the subject to something other than Google shows the cracks in this article and your motives?

It doesn’t matter that they’re in the same industry. They’re not competing against each other, and it’s an antitrust case.

That’s not my point. Her brother in law is an Uber lawyer and at the same time advising her campaign. Similarly, her campaign advisor is defending Google in an anti-monopoly case. She is big tech friendly is the point I am making.

Because she, a successful lawyer, has family and advisors that are also lawyers and your worried that they are practicing law?

If her brother and advisor were criminal defense lawyers instead, would you say that’s proof Harris would be weak on crime?

Lawyers are gonna lawyer my friend. That’s, in and of itself, is not a sign of anything nefarious.

                  From the article

If we’ve learned anything about Harris thus far, it’s that the truism “personnel is policy” will prove to be especially relevant for her campaign and future administration. The strong parts of Harris’s economic platform are in small measure a credit to her bringing onto her campaign two of the more progressive advisers from the Biden administration, Brian Deese and Bharat Ramamurti.

But others in the Harris brain trust are trying to swing the campaign in a more business-friendly direction, on things like crypto or capital gains taxes where she’s broken with President Biden.

Dunn has just been a debate prepper to this point. But her involvement as lead counsel in a case where Paul, Weiss has been accused of dirty tricks in a case against the government demands more scrutiny. Especially if that is being done to damage a personnel appointment in Kanter, who has been one of the Biden administration’s most effective officials.

Unless you have facts to bear about something terrible he’s done in his capacity as her campaign advisor, you’re just casting aspersions.

Her advisor is actively involved in defending Google from the anti-monopoly suit. This is what distinguishes her from the Biden administration, which has actually made an attempt to fight Big Tech by bringing this suit against Google.

Okay? I mean, Google is entitled to a defense, horrible as they are. But what her BiL does for his day job has no bearing on campaign activities.

Again, you’re trying to draw a line from him to Kamala, and that’s not reasonable or rational. Either point to some misdeed he’s done in his capacity as her campaign advisor, or stop with the fallacious reasoning.

If your point is that Harris’s campaign team is full of people looking out for corporate interests, and that reflects poorly on her prospects for taking the side of the people when our interests oppose theirs … ok. It seems like you got a couple of snippets of evidence supporting that thesis: go, get your ducks in a row, and make a blog post with lots of links laying out the evidence as you see it, and we can consider it.

Making a headline that’s clearly deceptive when considered to be a description of the linked article (which is totally what it is; there is no wiggle room on this) is not going to do anything but annoy people and get them to vote down your post, even if the information considered on its own is something we’d want to know. Someone else will post it with a reasonable headline, and we’ll vote that one up.

Y’all russian trolls are getting lazier and lazier. They send your more senior trogs to the front already? How long until y’all’ve trained your chatbot replacements, I wonder? You got any escape plans brewing, yet? Personally, I’d suggest you get on that ASAP. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣

This is about keeping politicians accountable. I find it incredibly lazy that anytime a favored candidate faces criticism, people assume it must be Russia.

Shitlibs have no interest in holding their own accountable. If they did Biden or any democrat for the last 30 years would have never been elected. This is why politics keeps getting progressively worse

None of these articles make sense until you reform your electoral system to allow for multiple parties. Until then it basically do you want complete idiots, or a smaller amount of stupid takes.

Agreed. We absolutely need to reform the system in particular do away with Citizens United which deems corporate donations as a legitimate form of campaign funding.

And just to be clear - my purpose in sharing this article wasn’t to discourage people from voting for Kamala. It is to inform people on where she stands on the issue of fighting big tech. We escaped Reddit for a reason.
