It’s nice and all but none of the benefits are going to Indian people.

The Indian oil corps (state owned or otherwise) resell it to other countries or sell it domestically at a markup over INTERNATIONAL prices. And the Government adds a tax on top, just pure brilliance.

Capitalists demand “fiscal prudence” so instead of raising taxes on the rich, they squeeze more purchasing power out of the poor. Really stupid.

That is the policy around taxation for everything. The “middle class” always froths with rage everytime the budget is announced over this. Ever since GST has been introduced it has gotten worse as well, with more of the taxes going to the central government. The economic policies here are pretty preposterous.

I remember average assesments of tax levels in Poland calculated around 2019 i think, according to that, real ultimate tax rate including indirect taxes for person earning the minimal wage was around 60% and for person in the highest wage bracket around 30%. And every fucking party and media in this country tells me we have “progressive” taxes. And this didn’t even included the really rich people, just those that are working for the wage and the wage is their main or only income.

Yeah. Progressive bracketing of income tax is only one aspect of the whole thing. It gets a lot of attention but once you take into account taxes on everything else, which also includes the most basic groceries for some reason, the non-wealthy end up getting taxed more proportionally to their income.

Main culprits in Poland are VAT and excise tax, they are very high and added to nearly all necessities, so things poor people need but aren’t added to thing rich people do with their money, that is various finance schemes.
