A woman classified by Guinness World Records as the oldest person in the world died on Aug. 19 at the age of 117, her family confirmed to The New York Times.

According to Guinness World Records, Maria Branyas Morera died in Spain at the Residència Santa María del Tura nursing home in Olot, Catalonia, where she has lived since 2000.

Guinness World Records passed on the title of “oldest woman living” to Branyas Morera when Lucile Randon, a nun also known as Sister André, died in 2023 at the age of 118.

At two moments of time you are either the last person to be born or the last person to die.

Also, everyone is the youngest person alive at some point. Not everyone gets to be the oldest person alive.

That’s actually not true. It’s basically semantics on when you consider a person born but technically a twin that remains in the womb while the other is birthed is always younger than their sibling. 🤓 ☝️

Well… So the first one birthed is the youngest person alive for at least some fraction of a second, and when the other twin is born, they’ll also be youngest alive for a second.

I would argue a baby in the womb 9 months is just as alive as a baby outside of it. Whether they are in the womb or not they are both alive.

Read the rest of the chain before you speak. We’re talking about twins and if the oldest twin can ever be considered younger then their sibling.

                  You really don’t understand?

The first born sibling is the youngest person on the planet from the time they are born until the time their younger sibling is born.

We obviously define birthdate as the date/time of birth.

This means that yes, an older sibling, like any other person ever, will be the youngest living person at some point in their life.

You can’t be “younger” if you aren’t even born yet. What a ridiculous idea.

If you’re gunna be such an asshole at least be right.

Just cuz you got banned from Reddit 2 days ago doesn’t mean you can come take your anger out on us that have been here. Obviously I am asking a philosophical question that requires a higher level of thinking and is meant to be thought provoking. If you would utilize your basic comprehension skills I said that in my first comment about arguing semantics.

I am arguing that a person that is alive doesn’t have to be born yet. If you would expand your monkey brain the next logical step is that twins that are conceived but not birthed will never be the youngest because although they were conceived at the same time, one of them must be birthed first. In which case the youngest sibling is the one that is still in the womb, ergo the older sibling never had a chance to be the youngest.

Again it is simply a thought experiment but if you can’t handle a conversation with another human without calling them an asshole, maybe try a vpn so you can get back to Reddit.
