Like… I fail to understand how the creators though having drag queens doing a mockery of the last supper was a good idea… In what universe was that acceptable?

Well, it’s completely acceptable in a world where people respect art, and also in a world where people are aware that Christianity wasn’t the world’s first religion, and that much of its symbology is based on paganism.

the specific part of the ceremony that caused the offense was, in fact, a scene depicting Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. It was reportedly based on The Feast of the Gods, a 17th century painting by Dutch artist Jan Harmensz van Biljert (source)

Um… in every universe? That shit was awesome, creative, and joyful. Loved it.

I truly enjoy it when artists are given a stage to create and grow perspectives of the world around us. France nailed it on this front. Not sure about the 500k Euro lobster dinner, though. That’s just weird monarchy shit, and I thought France had a bit of a strong opinion on that.

Uh yeah it kind of is? You’re the one who said it’s about the Last Supper (incorrect) and who has a bee in their bonnet about drag queens for whatever reason.

People have been performing different gender roles for hundreds of years. In Shakespeare’s time they didn’t let women act in plays so it was all men.

Japanese Kabuki theatre is also all men acting in male and female roles.

And yes, Ancient Greece - y’know, where the Olympics originally come from - also had men dressed in drag for female roles in their theatrical performances as women generally did not act in theatre.

Let’s also not forget France’s most famous drag king, Joan of Arc!

So I’m not sure what the issue seems to be.

Is some make believe hurting a fragile right-wing ego again? I’ll play some sad tunes on my violin, it’s pretty small tho, hope it’s all right.

(seriously tho, I hope you’re trolling)

I can understand why you’d fail to understand that, because it isn’t what happened.

Put your christianity outrage back in the box for now. What you saw was a depiction of the Feast of Dionysus. It was a pagan ritual/festival that occurred regularly in Greece before Jesus was even born. Its represents a feast that various Greek gods were having together.

Here’s a 17th century painting depicting the Feast of Dionysus with the gods present:

Dude, the Olympics are Greek. Just because many people are ignorant of other cultures doesn’t mean that we have to be upset.

Hang on, I’m confused. You saw a performance, assumed it was based on something else, and got offended because it wasn’t the something else, learned it wasn’t something else, rejected the explanation when the actual authors of the performance when they told you it wasn’t the something else, and you are still choosing to be offended claiming its the something else?

Are you so used to dog whistles you assume everything is a dog whistle? Grow up. Not everything is about you or your religion.

The Last Supper is a classic painting that has been parodied many times in movies and shows.

    What’s wrong with it?

Scared wtf are you talking about? I’m honestly just pissed off the Olympics was also getting infected with this type of shit, it’s like you can’t avoid getting the imagery of your own beliefs mocked anywhere or just keep a sport discipline pure, especially one that represents not a club but nations.
