Haven’t been able to find one I’m confident about. Seems like they’ll all either ban me or have no reach/no momentum. Is it worth continuing to try this one, like they might actually not ban me? Is there a different one I should be trying instead?
Should I just immediately block everyone that replies in bad faith and tell them to try me on nostr so I’m not stopping them from talking to me but I also can’t get “banned for insults” ?
What do you mean have no reach? I’m on a single user instance and can write to any community on any instance I want.
So basically, federation can kinda work one-way? That’s a big deal, changes my view quite a bit
In general, any Fediverse instances should be able to talk each other unless the admin has blocked that instance for whatever reason.

Right, but I think the flip side of that is — and, correct me if I’m wrong, I’m still learning fediverse — is that while you might not be able to be banned per se (you can only be “banned” by your instance, and you own your instance), but you can be defederated… another instance’s admins can block your instance (i.e. you) from accessing their instance if they feel your instance’s users (i.e. you) are more of a hindrance than a benefit to their instance and its users. It’s a different process but one still exists.
But you are right, your instance federates with all the others and I’m sure you have some control over that since you also operate the instance.
(And I’m sure you’re a decent person who isn’t catching bans or risking defederation, I just meant “if”.)
Yes instances can be defederated, but on a single user instance you get defederated because of what you did, not because of some other people did.
