Yep, the only real functions of that is copy protection, and Microsoft gathering data.
Turns out this is a CrowdStrike issue though, so unrelated in this case.
It’s a third party piece of software causing the issues though.
Crowdstrike has a lot of internal control of your machine in order to do things like hook into the processes you are running to observe any malicious activity. It makes sense that a bug could bring the whole system down.
Yeah it’s driver level so very small bugs can bring everything down
Or maybe just generally a bad idea…
