A flyer with the words “journalism is not a crime” appeared Tuesday on the wall outside the “Correspondents’ Corridor” where journalists operate at the Pentagon.
NatSec reporters are a critical aspect of defense policy. These people are how the planners and politicians manufacture consent across the populace.
I don’t think this will turn all of these journalists against their masters, errrrr sources, but I bet you get a few cases of journalism that would have been swept under the rug as a favor to some top level sources previously.
Not enough to rock the system, but possibly enough to pressure Hegseth.
Hit the nail on the head with manufactured consent. That was the old way of doing things, it’s all top-down autocracy now. No need to get the public to understand anything, the Trump fascists will do the thinking for you.
I think the silver lining right now with this new policy is that journalists can’t physically go to the Pentagon for information. They could theoretically confer with sources outside of the building, off hours, in a different country etc. I imagine those leaks will be more scrutinized now.
This is a hilarious self-own.

“Access journalism” was the one thing they had over youtubers and bloggers. Good riddance.
