Why are women doing this? They have a baby with him and they are able to get child support and spousal support for 18 years and maybe for life. This is a nice deal for a few nights of sex with this idiot.

You don’t get spousal support because someone was a sperms donor to you or had a short term affair with you. That’s not how spousal support works.

Some do, most don’t. A lot fall for powerful men with lots of money, and my guess is that Musk throws out advances on as many women as he is able and playing the odds with and advantage means he will find a lot of the women who desire what he has to offer from money to attention to the experience.

I would bet that out of the dozen at least one did it for the money, at least one was an accident they decided to keep, and at least one did it because they thought he night marry them.

Nothing is universally true for all women exceot for the fact that they are women.

Economics do be like that and we are all subject to needing money.

I was getting more at society loves to shit on men for walking out on kids but women don’t get grief for setting up a family without a father…

There are women who intentionally choose to be a single parent. Like they’re single, they get a sperm donor, have a kid. It’s not some insane thing. Kids should have a supportive and caring environment, whomever raises them. Not every kid with a single caregiver is neglected, nor is every kid with 2 or more caregivers properly cared for.

Humans run the complete gamut from the good to bad, smart to stupid.

There will ALWAYS be some people ( this includes women) willing to do anything for a chance at money or even to just rub elbows with the rich, powerful, famous

Ever heard of groupies? Wilt Chamberlain supposedly slept with 10k women and has how many kids.

But to answer your question absolutely.

The fact this has 40 up votes right now makes me feel like lemmy is losing a diverse user base. Like, where are the women to down vote this obviously shitty take?

Let’s list some reasons why these women could have done this that aren’t “women are sluts for clown daddies”:

      • he’s their boss, and leveraging his insane power over them to make it hard to say no and keep their job
      • he’s just an extremely powerful man and they’re afraid of pissing him off
      • they have insecurities, (like the “loser cuck” fallacy!) that they aren’t valuable or desirable as partners, and attention from someone as powerful as him feels like affirmation of their value even if they don’t like him or he treats them badly
      • they understand that, by not resisting his advances, they might be able to provide themselves a link to a financial source that could support them and a child
      • he literally sexually harasses, assaults, or rapes them and they don’t feel like they can criminally pursue one of the richest men in the world

Like, yeah, some of them might be individuals who have bad taste in men or are shitty people themselves. I’m even certain that some of them are! But damn, can we take the perspective of the woman for one second? It’s not a good look to find yourself agreeing with incels on the internet

Feel like it’s worth pointing out that user has over 360 comments, and they created that account 5 days ago.

Also keep in mind Lemmy doesn’t work like reddit. Scores are not universal, it depends on the instance you’re looking at it from.

That’s a good (and reassuring) observation!

Still, even if it’s a bot/troll/etc. post, if we don’t call it out when we see it, the culture of the community slowly shifts towards “bigotry is acceptable here”…

I’m gonna keep pointing this stuff out when I see it whether the user is acting in good faith or not :)

The main error here is thinking that because some women are motivated by money that we can generalize that to all women. And then use that to justify general misogyny.

There are horrible women and horrible men in the world. Prejudging everyone in a class because some members of the class are horrible is wrong.

Yeah, as if plenty of men wouldn’t have a baby with a rich woman if she was offering $100k/mo child support or some shit.

The numbers work differently if you swap the sexes like that, but the motivations don’t.

REMEMBER: If you have to have sex with you boss for advancement, that doesn’t make you a slut, that makes them a sex-offender.

“career advancement” is euphemism designed to switch the power dynamic.

To the extent that a boss demanding sex in exchange for career advancement, I agree that makes them sex offenders. But those women still have a choice. They making the wrong choice doesn’t mean they aren’t the victim, but they still should be accountable for their choice.

Agree. Rape and sexual assault nare one thing, and always deplorable. But as presented above, this isn’t that. It’s consensual sex with the hope of advancement.

If the power dynamic is abused by the boss for the purposes of attaining that sex, that’s sexual assault.

The power dynamic is ever present. Can a person detained by a law enforcement officer consent to sex with that officer?

                  Here’s the problem….

Because of the power imbalance you can never divorce the two, even if she chased him.

That’s not a moral judgement, just a reality that “perspective “ matters here and if she chased him and then decides 3 years later that he unduly promoted her to try and convince her to have sex with him, BOOM he’s screwed, because she’s got a valid point.

I don’t know the answer, but he’s definitely doing things he shouldn’t.

And let’s be real, he’s likely a VERY shitty dad.
