Where are you getting this information? Anything I’ve heard , even from fairly typical western sources, say Ukraine is not doing great and that Russia (given that it’s the world’s 4th largest economy) is clearly the victor.
Those are the 2022 estimates, before they were knee deep in a war. More up-to-date estimates from the IMF put them at #6. And that #6 is quite distant from the US.

Russia is more like 8th, and Ukraine is backed by multiple countries that outrank Russia.

At least on their home turf with their western equipment, yes. Russia is throwing pretty much everything at Ukraine, and Ukraine is doing pretty well.
