The Paper Mario games are RPGs, so they’re a lot more dialogue-heavy than a normal Mario game. In this instance, the character explains their identity to the player, directly.
There isn’t any character creation in Mario RPGs. You roleplay as the characters presented. All of this is like 20 years old at this point. There isn’t anything new coming to light.
