When covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, they usually are objective and cover both sides fairly, such as this: IDF strikes fresh Hamas targets after 2nd rocket fired from Gaza Strip. However, during the conflict of 2023, they were less objective, focusing on the objectives of the Israeli military. In general, the Times of Israel is factual with a slight left-leaning editorial bias.

This is not a joke, just check it out.

The last sentence: The Israeli Defense Ministry declined to comment.

If it was just the star of David, it’s antisemitism.
If it was the star of David within the flag of Israel, it’s antizionism.

Antizionism is necessary for peace.

Also, when talking about sexual misconduct/abuse and related matters the way we think of justice can be very tricky and I think we need to reconsider the notion of

For example, it’s not a given that a 24-year-old can prove that 10 years back they were sexually abused or raped by Epstein. Or anyone actually.

What is problematic about his open letter?

I guess the answer to that depends on how one sees proprietary software. I like the free and open source community and this is why I find this letter problematic, to say the least.

I have not read the book, I’ve read enough about Gates by now to have my own thoughts on how dogdy he is. What is this article in defense of Bill Gates? The author met Gates a few times and he feels confident to claim that

That man was very far from the sexist, arrogant, miserable predator that Schwab portrays.

And what is this conclusion?

The world needs their money; maybe managed by party bureaucracies, that much is not clear. Bill Gates’ money, that is, but not Bill Gates himself.

This is a debate within the anarchist community for several reasons. First of if we were in a pre-revolutionary era and a lot of people were already active in some sort of non-hierarchical groups and about to take over society, yes at that point voting would be damaging to the cause. Currently we are not at this point.

Also many anarchists consider direct democracy as way going forward towards autonomous local organisation. Rojava would be a recent example of this case.

Personally, I think it is meaningful to vote. The important thing is not rely on it. One can easily vote and do community-organising as well. I agree that voting does not challenge any of the hierarchical structures that are in place. Not voting, doesn’t neither. At least at this point in time.

Yeah no wonder. I’m one of those that read half of it, just because some titles are misleading. Well it’s clearly not one of those.

If those scientists tried stuff on themselves, I wouldn’t object.
Doing these stuff to other creatures and also trying to justify them… NO. JUST NO.

My point was that people who have family and friends in Israel demand a ceasefire, and want us to Tell Congress: Demand Biden reinstate UNRWA funding, and have practical suggestions on how to act now ect

So having Chicago -amongst other cities- stand with them for peace, I think it’s great move.

Personally, I don’t care about these statistics. The point I was trying to make was that under capitalism any industry has the goal to make huge amounts of profit. Coal, nuclear you name it. Nothing is about sustainability, unless it is related to greenwashing. So I don’t trust their approach, including the safety of these places. Also the need for more power is for industry expansion, not to heat our homes for instance.

[By the way, I am not a communist. Mondragon is a model of non-capitalistic industrial development that has been successfully expanding since the 1950’s. By no means am I saying their approach is perfect, nor that perfection is the goal. Their example is important tho cause we can learn from them. For the Cleveland Model, they used Modragon’s input. Actually there are several. For me seeing an article like that from the side of the settler-colonials gives me hope. The apartheid in South Africa wouldn’t have been abolished without the consent of the the colonizers.

The Israeli document, which has been shared with U.S. officials and was obtained by The Associated Press, lists 12 people, their alleged roles in the attack, job descriptions and photos. The findings detailed in the document could not be independently confirmed.
The document said intelligence gathered showed that at least 190 UNRWA workers were Hamas or Islamic Jihad operatives, without providing evidence.
It said of the 12 workers, nine were teachers and one a social worker. Seven of the employees were accused of crossing into Israel on Oct. 7. Of those, one was accused of taking part in a kidnapping, another of helping to take away a dead soldier and three others of participating in the attacks. (…)

The numbers mentioned in the posted article I first saw them on a wsg piece co-written by Carrie Keller-Lynn is a former political and legal correspondent for The Times of Israel and has some serious ties with the IDF, to be more precise the IDF spokesperson unit.
