ratel@mander.xyzto News@lemmy.world•Skydance Tells FCC It Will Create CBS News Ombudsman, Eliminate DEI at Paramount0·2 months agoIt’s a production company that has made movies you’ve probably watched or have definitely heard of (e.g. True Grit, newer Mission Impossible movies, Top Gun Maverick), but more importantly, it’s run by Larry Ellison’s son, David. As in Larry Ellison the billionaire who founded Oracle and is consistently somewhere in the top 5 richest people globally.
So the answer is having a stupid amount of money to throw about, as usual.
Oh damn, I’ve never seen this thanks for linking.
ratel@mander.xyzto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I don't get this trend, but there's a moth on my ceiling. Enjoy !0·3 months agoI have one on my bathrom mirror:
Oh someone’s got all 6 uploaded. A blast from the past.
The truuuuueee adventures of chad (youtube link)
This unlocked a very old memory.
The mini series following the dog character was worth watching IMO.

Thanks for linking, ironically this guy makes patriotic shoes with flags and ones that say “Gulf of America” on them according to the thread.
So much to unpack here…
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this at all. Some people don’t even start college until their mid 20s or even later, if they have the opportunity at all. Finishing a few months later than some of you peers is a minute difference in the grand scheme of things and you should try not to stress about it and focus on doing the best you can with the work that’s left. You will look back on this and find it amusing you were concerned about it - enjoy the extra time you have studying before you move on to the working world where you most likely be for the next 40+ years. Good luck and all the best.

It’s mental that after all of the things that have happened recently, 1 in 5 people still use Xitter and that’s not even excluding babies.
ratel@mander.xyzto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is personally your favorite insult or what is the best comeback you've heard that destroyed someone?0·5 months agoWe have a similar one to this when someone is incompetent which is “They couldn’t organise a pissup in a brewery”.
Thoughts and prayers xoxo
Unless you’re setting up your own stuff like Frigate already suggested here, I would suggest one without Internet connection but wireless video monitor. I used a eufy E110. Signal worked all over the house and picture is clear. I didn’t think any of the COTS solutions with an internet connection and app could be trusted TBH.
Yeah whatever brings positive nostalgia to people will be looked at fondly. I remember early internet fads and viral websites in a positive light that are just as dumb and transient as whatever viral content is being pushed out today. People view things in a different light and some kids in 15 years time will get nostalgic about Skibidi Toilet and talk about how “Dance Hype Craze” fell off after video 983.
ratel@mander.xyzto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do news articles and such call the governments of countries/groups of countries after the capital?0·6 months agoSouth Africa has three capitals but they have different roles: Pretoria is the executive/administrative capital, and this branch of the government is run by the head of state. The other roles are the legislative (Cape Town) and judicial (Bloemfontein) capitals. I would assume depending on which branch of the government is delivering news they would use the appropriate capital, but it’s most likely to be Pretoria.
Feel free to correct me I am not an expert or South African.

Was this in the article? They barely mentioned anything about it spreading globally and no actual* numbers on the cases or spread outside of the US.
