I know you think you’re doing the lord’s work by reposting everything from !linux@lemmy.ml but all it ends up doing is polluting my feed quite a bit. There were always crossposts between the two but there was good reason to subscribe to both. It’s the same as trading in a car versus selling it on the private market. It is ALWAYS a bad deal. It’s also not like if you trade it in that’s more environmentally friendly, because they just recycle it immediately, and most of the carbon emissions come from manufacture. They’re just trying to inflate prices by killing the second-hand market.

If you’re that worried about your data, screen who you’re selling it too. But unless you’re a journalist, politician or very high up in a business, you’re probably fine.

I don’t disagree with any of this, but it’s kind of precisely why coming out and saying what teawrecks wants them to say before that right moment is foolhardy at best imo.

My fear is that it would make it easier, by singling out who needs to be purged.

Look back to desegregation around race. There were many, many people that were uncomfortable. But today we consider it a positive assertion of people’s rights. How much longer would you have trans women wait? Someone is always going to be offended.

While that would be nice, this would potentially make Trump try to purge “non-loyal” officers even harder.

Unless someone anti-piracy is combing through your statements, why would anything come of it? I use my debit mastercard for nzbgeek and vipernews and have never had an issue.
