I’m not American (and I assume you are), so I’m afraid I can’t help with that 😅

Educational books at or slightly above her reading level? My kid is crazy about dinosaurs, so he’ll read and re-read books about them even though he doesn’t understand all the words yet.
Malta Soron@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you aged out of playing sports? How did you handle it?0·21 days agoI use some videos from this channel. Usually 30 minutes, three times per week, alternating with soccer/calisthenics days. Works perfectly for me.
(Specifically # 4, 5 and 26 from this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBfRLLhSBb-Ce7jXhButzHMHoQcAf_dgE
But they a lot of other good videos as well, so be sure to look around.)
Malta Soron@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you aged out of playing sports? How did you handle it?0·21 days agoI have some guys in my team who are over fifty and still play every week, so it certainly is possible. One is the goalie :P The other does a lot of jogging which helps him stay fit. Stuff like yoga and calisthenics also help prevent injuries. So you might try looking into that and see if it helps you stay in the game.

You should watch all three, it’s one cohesive story :) (But you’ll probably want to do so anyway)
There are way to few people recommending The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions. I recently rewatched them after not seeing them for a decade and I was surprised by how much growing older allowed me to better recognize the themes in the story. My wife watched them for the first time with me and she said they’re the best movies she’s ever seen.

Isn’t it more of a dad look (think Ned Flanders)? My father used to have a moustache, which IMO looked better than his cleanshaven face now.
If it’s just a few nights, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I checked out some instances and it seems that most have a really specific user base. Are there more general instances like .world?
Malta Soron@sopuli.xyzto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why dont more people live in smaller communities , appart from economic opportunity (WFH is making it possible if not prefferable too)0·7 months agoYeah, even in the Randstad, for distances up to like 15 km it’s often faster to cycle somewhere than take public transport.
Malta Soron@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Looking for 'Machinima' like episodic series that role-play through games (not 'lets play' vids, but actually in-character productions)0·7 months agoNot a game, but I think it fits the general theme: DragonBall Z Abridged. +/- 10 minute shorts abridgeing (and parodying) DragonBall Z. I never watched the real show, but I think they’re hilarious.
I’m working on losing a few kgs for playing sports, so I’m trying to make changes that are sustainable for the rest of my life. E.g. quark and granola instead of bread for breakfast, and no more snacks in between meals (RIP stroopwafels).
That way I only need to change habits once instead of multiple times like when you’re dieting, and the effect is slow but noticeable.
Yeah, I can even notice the difference when doing plyometrics on my wooden living room floor versus on the tiles in the garden (the lawn is very shitty and can’t take it).
