Trump openly said he will be a dictator and will not follow the rule of law. The damage is done man, Putin got what he wanted. I’m not really sure any ways out. We either fall into an authoritarian dictatorship, or we will probably eventually have a civil war. I’m not really sure what else can be done about that. You can’t vote yourself out of a dictatorship… So what else is there for people to do?

Not the most annoying, but the most stupid and simple: The fact that even in windows 10 (not sure about 11), you couldn’t set custom keyboard shortcuts for volume up and down. I have had the right Ctrl+shift+up/down arrows bound to the volume up/down, since i started using Linux as my desktop fulltime over 10 years ago, and windows still won’t let you do that without installing a random 3rd party tool you find on google.

Everyone thinks they’ll be in the ‘in group’ with a dictator. The only ‘in group’ is the dictator themselves. As you said, over time the ‘in group’ gets smaller and smaller. Really frustrating how people still champion this shit on thinking they’ll be in the special group too!

“It’s a wonderful Life”. I’m not religious but the message of the movie is very straight forward, and very important. Be a good person, always try to help others, have integrity, and try to make meaningful connections with people. You also don’t have to have a long list of accomplishments to have a meaningful life, as long you positively affect others, you’ve done good.

It’s a wonderful life used to be my favorite movie to watch around Christmas time, to remind myself of whats important in life, but now I’ve added:

The movie “About Time”. Slow down. Savor, and enjoy life. Most days I forget about the message of that movie, but I try to remind myself every now and then. It hits especially hard now as my father passed away at 80 last year.

I stopped buying their phones when they started locking the bootloaders for the Qualcomm ones in the US. My last one was a galaxy s5. Sadly now I go with the pixel line directly from google, because I know it’ll be unlocked.

The only exception to this is google maps. There isn’t really an alternative, because they have the network effect going with all the points of interest added already, and crowd sourced by people, plus the reviews of business and restaurants. Even if you can get all that going with a Foss app, its not going to be tracking you, and unfortunately maps is the 1 reason for tracking people that actually gives the user some benefit, traffic data. I don’t think there any other Foss maps that gives traffic data.

Lol… Yeah, don’t buy things like phones or laptops from amazon. Other gadgets seem to be a better bet (like bluetooth speakers, smart watches, etc) but for some reason laptops and phones seem to be the most scammed.

Wow… While the action is ethically crappy, I never would have thought that to be an arrestable offense. Using the actresses to generate new nudes and porn scenes? Sure, but to literally cut out the nude scenes from real movies? Kind of crazy to get arrested for that without some sort of warning or cease and desist letter first.

Usually the best way to find new people is to get into an activity or hobby. Use meetup, or Facebook events, or other local event coordinating services to find activities or events you’re interested, go and chat with people, and if you hit it off with people after a few times seeing them, try to make a connection individually outside the group, like meeting up for coffee or a beer, etc.

The hard thing you’ll find as you age though, is there’s a finite amount of social attention people have with their lives, and as people age and establish their groups of friends, sometimes its hard to break into their circles as they’ve already kinda maxed out their in life social network. Sometimes they either aren’t really looking to add more friends, and include more people in their life, or just don’t think to invite you to events etc. Breaking though that, or finding people open to adding more to their social networks, can be hard as you age.

Yah, been playing it on my steamdeck, I forgot how hard the first diablo was, haven’t played it since in was a kid. I got a warrior all the way to diablo, but couldn’t kill him, character wasn’t powerful enough. So i started a new game with my character and thought I’d train in nightmare, and come back to kill diablo in normal later. But then I read the game ends in each difficulty when you kill diablo and what ever loot you get, you can’t pick up before the ending dialogue screens, and diablo isn’t treated as much of a special character in regards to loot so… I never went back to kill diablo, because what’s the point?

Now I got all the way to level 13 in nightmare and stalled again because my character can’t survive the balrogs, and isn’t powerful enough. Usually when you got stuck in the original game, you could dupe gold or stat increasing potions or something to get your character past their slump, but they fixed the dupe bug in the devilutionx code. Now there’s nothing really to help you out when stuck. Crazy thing is sometimes you have to restart because you’ve run out of gold for healing potions after trying and failing to clear a level.

I might be putting the game down for a bit. It was incredibly fun while I played though.

Huh, interesting. Rural Pennsylvania still has a lot of wells. And those areas are getting more populated, curious to see how the water table will do as those areas expand. Lots of, like you said, 100+ year old houses.

You’re correct, wells aren’t infinite. I was replying to your comment on “I don’t really have to pay attention to water conservation” if you have enough neighbors, and they all have that attitude you might find yourselves having to dig deeper wells.
