I didn’t say anything about the enforcement of the rule or how dumb it was. I was only pointing out that it should not be a surprise to any green card holder that they need to be carrying it.

My friend got her green card about 20 years ago, and she said they made it very clear she needed to carry it at all times.
Wow, they turned something most people couldn’t give a shit about into a religious battle. Most people only cared about calling in Columbus Day because that is what they are used to calling it. Changing the name only annoyed them because it was a minor alteration in their language, and the alternative was a name that seemed too PC for them. They didn’t hate it, but they didn’t like it, either.
Now they are full on Christofascist about the name, turning someone who was seen as disgustingly bad even by the standards of his own time into some sort of saint.
Goddamn, that hits hard.
That’s not his point. His point was that “law” doesn’t matter any more.
Whoof, the bit he did about Bill Cosby has not aged well at all.
What in the world are you talking about? This had nothing whatsoever to do with religion.
I thought tax breaks for millionaires was supposed to create jobs.
Your points are exactly why it is surprising. Most executives don’t think like me and you. If you give them a million dollars, they say they need 10 million. If you give them a billion dollars, they say they need 10 billion. There is no end to their greed. Look at how Google and Amazon are still trying to strong-arm their industries to get even more billions of dollars. Musk is out there demanding a trillion dollars.
CEOs and execs at large multinational corps like Intel don’t usually coast. They might make strategic blunders, but they usually push to make as much money as they can. If they fail, they fall back on their golden parachutes. If they win, they get shitloads more money.
What’s sort of incredibly about America’s Intel is that they haven’t done any of this shit, clinging to their dead-end chip design long after its expiration date and missing the boom in demand for high end chips entirely.
This is the most baffling thing to me. How could Intel leadership be so incompetent? They had the inside track to hundreds of billions in revenue and just decided to coast.
The day after Trump was elected, I was in the Pentagon and it was like a funeral inside. The day before the election, high ranking military officers were openly mocking Trump (even 2 star generals). Maybe because I’m involved in Air Force/Space Force vs Army/Navy/Marines, but every general I’ve ever met dedicates their lives to the people below them as opposed to their president at the time. When a president comes along and threatens those people, it isn’t taken lightly. Again, maybe it is specific to the forces that I work with, or maybe that I work on the acquisition side and not the boots on the ground side, but my impression is that even the very religious and conservative leaders are not happy with how the people they see as their family are being treated.
I’m pretty sure every person with a firm grasp of reality predicted this would happen.
What the fuck is wrong with people?
There is no way this is a good thing. Summoning a single general to a meeting without giving any context is not a thing that is done. Summoning all of them and not stating the meeting purpose or providing read ahead charts or pre-briefs… that’s incredibly ominous.
I’m hoping it is only him directing them to call it Dept of War (DoW) on all official comms instead of DoD.
That’s… not at all what that term means.
I had a lot of Central and South American friends growing up (well, “a lot” relative to most people in the Midwest in the 80s). Some of them said their families back in their parents’ home countries got upset if they called themselves Americans. I understand that feeling, but my response was, “OK, so what should you call a person from the United States of America?” They didn’t have a better idea than just saying American, which is why I think most people around the world just accept the term even if it is a little separatist. There just isn’t a better term.
and her Republican challenger, Daniel Butierez, have publicly expressed their intent
People say a lot of things to get elected. What happens after is a whole different thing. Trump was adamant about releasing the Epstein files during the election…
You should hit the gym more, just in case shit pops off.
Shit, I stand corrected. My bad.
Seriously. Just go into /r/conservative and look what “news” they are reading. It is all rage-bait stories about violence in the world caused by people of color or immigrants or leftists. There are no stories at all about the shutdown. I was flying home from vacation two days ago and could see the Fox News stories on a guy’s TV in front of me. It was all rage-bait with no actual news stories, not even fake news stories blaming Democrats for the shutdown.
