Kdeconnect might be what you’re looking for notifications but I do agree that this might not be for you… The pictures are very saturated and colors can be not true to life. Like your boss will probably think ‘what was this taken on and why did they edit them to look like this’. Bt works okay… But 2.4ghz wifi messes it up. And calls are like ‘works a lot of the time but sometimes it doesn’t and sounds like dookie.’ I’ve had a policemen curse me out over the call quality… Murica

My biggest issue with the pinephone is folks getting a pinephone expecting a smooth experience… It’s a dev phone and not for normal use. Does that mean it can be daily driven? Yes it can but you better be willing to put in work… Like I had an install over a year old, but I was messing around trying to get winedive to work and ended up borking the install.

If you want to daily drive a pinephone, expect carrying batteries and expect mucking about to get things to work most of the time …

texts are reliable. calls can be wonky but i always used gvoice (i know satan) to manage my calls reliably. camera… i’m going to be biased … i love the aesthetic but i would be remiss to ignore they arent the standard experience. for work no… for art yes! i love my pinetime and it worked great with my pinephone and android phone.

edit - there are xmmp and voip clients. i prefer maftrix which works great

fuck double edit- i need to mention i was on community modem firmware and changed my aspd. which was some work to get to work but had volte working reliably

I loved all by pinephones… the og is much more reliable but the pro is significantly faster and more ‘usable’ in terms of ‘let me open something and i expect it to open like fairly soon.’ I owned and daily’d both at some point so ama?

Spirited away… Something about the first opening notes of the piano when that movie starts always moves me and fills me with such warm feelings.

so i have’t really gotten to test this hard but seems like 4ish to 6ish hrs of work… It does get a lil warm but I have my plasma settings to change cpu gov on power events and that really helps… i think i could get more if I switched to sway or something. It suspends really well with only loosing a percent or two overnight and hibernating works.

The only things that aren’t working out of box are autorotating the screen and when the device boots up it seems to want to display the login screen on a screen other than the default. A simple closing the lid, waiting for it to sleep and reopening the screen fixes this. Or if you have an external monitor it’ll output there by default. I feel like the latter could easily be fixed as it feels like I need to default it do the correct screen and I suspect it’s picking up the touch screen device as the display… It shows up on the battery settings as a display with a discharging battery for some reason. The auto rotating doesn’t bother me… I prefer having explicit control of the rotation for my needs.

Yeah, I keep up where i need to, but yeah medicine always wrecks me. It sucks, I really have to be careful and try stuff on days where I have a few days to burn if i react poorly. Fortunately, I haven’t needed much medications growing up. But, yeah I’ll probably just schedule a weekend where I don’t need to go anywhere

It’s part of my career to review white papers. Mostly from the FDA food guidelines but I do enjoy reading white papers. Cuts the bias if I can go through the methodology and data set. I have a chemistry degree with an interest in computational science, inorganic and polymer. I’m on some regulatory review team at work as well…

I really didn’t want to come off so anti vax… not my intent, like i’m going to get it I just wanted more info which I haven’t seen yet.

To preface this, I’m totally for vaccines and have convinced others to get the COVID shot…

Two things… I haven’t found anything from a white paper to read up on this new vaccine. Like I think the last thing I found was like ‘its the best we got but local variants will persist.’ And my hesitation is that when ever I got my COVID vax and boosters… It fucked me up bad. I was useless for three days each time. I don’t react well to medicine… I can’t take a full xyzal without loosing a day. I did catch COVID once and I realize most logical reason it wasn’t that bad was because of the shot, but in my past I never get the flu or any thing that bad. Like I get sniffles at worse … so I guess I’m wondering/hoping I don’t need the shot… I couldn’t move those three days from the vax and I’m wondering if it’s another medication I’m overly sensitive to. But I will likely put up with loosing a weekend to try to consider others around me as I’m not sure how to prove or test that.

I guess my point is I’m looking for more data to make a good decision here.

I use parsec pretty often. It should work but moonshine/sunset is less latency in my experience
