I received weird dms on reddit, sex bots, one guy thirsting over the idea that i’d be a girl for him. I still use old forums and I never got a problem with them.

Why use apps instead of a browser and why hop?
There are still fully functioning phpbb forums out there if forums are your thing, not to mention that the fediverse can just be forked and remain inexistence if someone tries to steal it.
