    I’m sure the obvious answer is tariffs, but the US phone market has been rough for anyone who isn’t Apple or Samsung due to the outsized role carriers play in phone selection in that market. Google has made some inroads by being Google, but HMD is not Google.

      I worked at Apple when iPhone became available at Verizon (huge US telecom).

      Apple was set up for this huge launch and expected crowds of people. The store was way overstaffed that day and pretty uneventful.

      One guy came up and asked us where the Verizon store was 😂 when someone told them we could do all the account stuff in the Apple Store I think he still chose to go to Verizon.

      Anyway, that’s just an example to highlight your point.
