I went onto their subscription page because I couldn’t believe you. Not only are you right, they block you from just hitting the back button to exit out.

I mean, it gives you 2 or 4 subscriptions at that price, so I guess it’s not that bad if you group up and split the cost.

J/k, it’s still that bad lol

I mean, it makes total sense when better vaccines exist.

Before people are like eh eh anti-vaxx blabla or ha ha we knew this had side-effects, since this is still a for profit company, this part is quite important:

AstraZeneca said the vaccine was being removed from markets for commercial reasons. It said the vaccine was no longer being manufactured or supplied, having been superseded by updated vaccines that tackle new variants.

Isn’t this kind of a garbage comparison? Your chance of dying by childbirth is zero if you choose not to have kids, or if you biologically can’t have kids. Same with almost everything on this list, other than the only other medical intervention of GA (which you may not have a choice to avoid if you need it for a medically necessary procedure). Wouldn’t it be better to compare it to the risk dying of COVID? Or the risk of dying from other common vaccines?

BS headline. Side effects are not the reason it’s withdrawn.

    LOL:

"How risky was the AstraZeneca vaccine?

    Compared to other scenarios

Death from giving birth - 1 in 12,500

Chance of under-50s getting blood clot with low platelets from AstraZeneca vaccine - 1 in 50,000

Death from receiving general anaesthetic - 1 in 100,000"

Death from giving birth number seems awfully low, must be UK numbers. ;)

    Yup. US death rate is 32.9 per 100,000 so… 1 in 3,039.51

Seemed slightly on the high side to me, but within the bounds of normal. This is like a medical version of the overton window, I guess.

Here in NZ it’s around 7 per 100,000. I get the impression the US is an outlier on this particular stat.

        Oh, it gets WORSE:

        https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/hestat/maternal-mortality/2021/maternal-mortality-rates-2021.htm

“In 2021, the maternal mortality rate for non-Hispanic Black (subsequently, Black) women was 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, 2.6 times the rate for non-Hispanic White (subsequently, White) women (26.6) (Figure 1 and Table). Rates for Black women were significantly higher than rates for White and Hispanic women.”

1 in 1,430.62 for black women. This is why abortion rights are so important in the US.

          Fucking hell. That’s just awful.

Agreed on abortion rights, they need to get their finger out and pass nationwide law that the states can’t overrule.
