That’s the question.

    yes this is exactly why

    https://theintercept.com/2023/10/27/secret-military-base-israel-gaza-site-512/

The story of power in the 20th and 21st century is the story of oil, and the US military uses more oil than any other entity on earth.

The Israeli stronghold exists for force projection and to absolutely ensure that the US military and its partners has future access to all the oil it will ever need.

This in turn brings trillions of dollars from all over the world into the pockets of our MICC oligarchs.

It’s rotten, dirty, corrupt, horrific, disgusting.

Democrats and Republicans, when it comes to legislation, largely have vastly different goals. When people say ‘both sides are the same’ though this is what they are talking about. Supporting the MICC is where the venn diagram overlaps and why Biden is happily genociding away. It’s the most rotten part of our country and the source of so much suffering because the oligarchs will fund wedge issues to ensure that the system stays like this.

It’s a radar outpost. We have real bases capable of projecting troops and airpower all over the middle east. We could move the radar into Jordan and be fine.

That was during the Cold War. You know, 40 odd years ago?

That’s not a reason to go all in on Israel now.

That’s not actually true. The reason there’s been such a big push by conservative states to support Israel is specifically because support waned after the Cold War.

And the people actually in charge of defense trust Israel so much we have a, (checks notes), small outpost there. We have 13,000 troops in Kuwait alone. 9,000 in Bahrain, 8,000 in Qatar. Kuwait and Qatar both host giant military bases that our actual allies operate out of as well.

Don’t tell me what was going on in 1985. Tell me what’s going on now.
