Strongly disagree.
They are evil, but that doesn’t come out of nowhere. It comes from needing to violently enforce the demands of an oppressive, exploitive system.
I’m still not entirely convinced people don’t join just so they can be dicks with impunity and collect a top tier salary/benefits package… I know there are good people too, but it’s hard to believe in the system as a whole lately.
But simply blaming capitalism is shortsighted. Which isn’t what you said, but I feel it’s worth stating. Incomplete theories lead to imperfect solutions and policing in this country is in desperate need of reforms.

Yeah… it’s definitely both. Although… an enforcement brigade is required for any authoritarian regime to work, not just a capitalist one…
