i want to sync what i copy between my tablet and pc, both running debian.
KDE connect can do that if they are on the same network
Or if you use a VPN.
Do you have any tips using KDE Connect with a local VPN (Wireguard)? It works great for me on the same network, but unfortunately fails to connect outside of my network despite one (or both) devices connected to my VPN
You need to input the IP directly, WireGuard doesn’t quite do broadcasts in most cases so mDNS won’t work.
I mean, this still means they’re on the same network, right?
i have kde connect and have sync clipboard on but its not working
Are the two Linux devices on the same IP subnet?
Are any of the other KDE connect features working? To sync from android to your PC, you’d need to manually do it by pressing the send clipboard button in the KDE Connect app on your android device. It’s due to a limitation imposed by Google. However sync from Linux to android should work automatically. Is that not the case for you?
im not on android
Oof, I have no experience with (assuming) apple stuff. But it might be even more restricted than android. Good luck and don’t forget to share your solution if and when you find it! :)
? i said both run linux. my tablet runs linux
Whoops. My bad, apparently I’m too tired to read
Just out of curiosity, may I ask why you want to do that?
im disabed and its easier to use touch. so i wanna copy a link on my tablet and open it on my pc
On Firefox I can easily send a tab to another one of my devices using a Firefox account to link them if something like that sounds acceptable to you. I imagine the same is possible with Chrome.
ya i use firefox
2FA codes is one thing I use it for
Why mention xorg and wayland at all? Clipboards have nothing to do with the fucking display server
Apparently it is a problem if this is the same use case. https://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2016/07/synchronizing-the-x11-and-wayland-clipboard/
But between systems this matters none. You will use the same KDE Connect or whatever software of your choice, no matter what the windowing service on each system is.
He never mentioned kde connect. just how to sync.
Someone else did.
Not in the thread i replied to. he said how to, you said why ask, i replied because it can be a problem. This is why linux forums get a bad name, instead of replying to the guy with a solution such as KDE, you instead goad them with why ask.
The top reply had a solution. I had a question, seemed irrelevant information, so i asked why it was included and gave him a bit of a hard time. Not like I’m trying to make him angry or something lol
Is this true? Who controls the clipboard, then? The window manager? I always thought it was the X server
Does it matter in this scenario? Seems Uniclip would be helpful, cross platform, even
