My situation: I’m a 36-year-old Saudi man, but I was born in the US and have dual citizenship. I grew up in Saudi Arabia until I was 14, when I moved to New Hampshire to attend boarding school. From 18 to 22, I lived in Massachusetts for college. After graduating, I spent five years back in Saudi Arabia. At 27, I returned to Massachusetts for my MBA, then moved back to Saudi again after finishing. I’m accustomed to life in the US.
In 2023, I met a woman from Vermont online through mutual friends. We started dating soon after, and the following year, I moved to Vermont to be with her.
I’m currently renting the house we’re living in. Lately, I’ve been looking at homes to buy in the area. I’d definitely be interested in purchasing property - but I have some serious reservations. On one hand, I really like Vermont. On the other, the overall instability of the country is increasingly concerning. She’d very much like to stay here and be close to her friends and family. I’ve suggested we consider other countries, like France, where I’ve already spent a lot of time.
Saudi Arabia is not an option… for a multitude of reasons.
Has she lived outside the country before? Do you want to go somewhere else with her? If she wants to stay close to family why not try Canada? It’s close by, similar climate and time zone and culturally not that different from the north east.
