Hi, feddit.org admin here. We are currently blocking multiple regions due to very aggressive scraping done by companies, such as Alibaba. I will forward this post to our team, to find out the exact reason to why you’re blocked.
Blocking whole regions sounds like overkill. Just block the alibaba subnets. We do the same on our end. If you want I can provide you the cidr ranges.
It’s definitely overkill. Every time I come across a feddit.org image, it’s just broken on my end :/

I’m glad to hear I’m not an obscure exception, I hope they fix this.
it’s not exactly the entire regions, but a large chunk of prefixes from asian regions.
we’re currently working on some infrastructure changes that will allow more granular blocking for feddit.org, separating it from the blocking used for other fediverse foundation services, as currently all fediverse foundation services are sharing the same blocklist.
Request: Please don’t ban Mullvad VPN IPs.
