Hm, right now I’m on the latest and didn’t notice much. Guess I’m not a power Nova user. I really only need the shortcuts when swiping up/down on icons. I’d switch if another launcher had that. I don’t have a firewall set up either. Guess I should look into that?
That’s my favorite too but every since they were sold* I’m hesitant to recommend them. I’m too accustomed to swiping up/down on icons for shortcuts.
Nova was not sold till 7.0.23 beta and was good till 6.2.13 stable.
So you just run the older version?
Yes, with internet disabled in firewall.

That is the last stable version before Nova did that codebase rewriting, which killed a lot of its features. No other launcher suits me at all.
