Frankcom was one of four international aid workers that Palestinian officials say were killed along with their Palestinian driver on Monday in an Israeli air attack in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah.

Speaking at a news conference in Brisbane, Albanese said Frankcom’s death was “completely unacceptable” and “beyond any reasonable circumstances”. ⠀

Albanese also reiterated calls for a “sustainable ceasefire”.

We (Australia) need to withhold all forms of support from Israel until a thorough investigation takes place. If we stopped funding UNRWA because of allegations from Israel (that have turned out to be specious at best) that UNRWA staff were involved in October 7, then we can stop funding the Israeli government over this. I welcome the relatively strong words from Albo here, but he should have stated that Australia is demanding a ceasefire, not just renewing calls for one. Another war crime has been committed, and we can’t keep using flowery language around this.

One of those UNRWA workers Israel claimed was Hamas is literally a retired US Marine general. Israel’s claims are absurd, they are committing a never ending stream of war crimes and atrocities, and it’s absolutely required we go beyond flowery language and strongly worded letters to put an end to their reprehensible actions.

It’s just theater for public. Pleading Israel for ceasefire while they are in full genocide mode is pathetic. Let’s face it, West, including my country, is giving full support. Besides since when is Australia concerned about their citizens…Assange…
