Forced arbitration means any legal disputes you may have with Discord must be resolved through a single third party mediator, who 99% of the time is chosen by, and will rule in favor of, the corporation/Discord. This effectively removes all your legal rights as a consumer, because arbitration decisions are legally binding and non-appealable.
The new ToS goes into effect April 15th, 2024.
YOU CAN OPT OUT OF ARBITRATION. You must email arbitration-opt-out@discord.com BEFORE MAY 15TH (30 days after ToS effective date) with your username stating that you wish to opt out of the arbitration clause. Once May 15th passes you are bound to arbitration with Discord forever.
Opt-out before it’s too late.
“I dont need rights, because i anyways dont exercise them”
Good on you, but what about the rest of us? Ever think that this law is not tailored to you?
This is a huge non sequitur about me accepting an arbitration clause or not because of you and your rights. You’re not even in America based on a comment in this thread.
You seriously don’t understand what a law suit is. They require provable monetary damage to collect. I’m seriously asking what that could be in the realm of reality and the examples given wouldn’t be worth retaining a lawyer for. I actually would prefer a arbitration in the cases presented to me. It is closer to what they do in Europe. Law suits are expensive and the only person who gets paid is the lawyer in cases like this.
Wow, how very nice of you to say /s
