Linux should revive your machine from both a performance, and from an update perspective. If you have a SSD: Linux mint Debian edition: https://www.linuxmint.com/download_lmde.php If you don’t: you can still try Linux mint, or go with Spiral Linux for something faster: https://spirallinux.github.io/
