I assume that in general, blue states have stricter gun laws. With the current political situation, that puts them at a disadvantage. Maybe they should consider pausing some of the laws. Maybe even sponsor weapons training. They could mix in lots of gun safety lessons at the same time. Subsidize trigger locks and that sort of thing too.

Getting an accurate tally of the total number of privately owned guns is hard, but by any measure it’s ridiculously high.

As of 2017, American civilians own 46% (approximately 393.3 million) of the world’s 857 million civilian-use firearms.

Yes, the more rural and conservative states have more guns per capita. But even little New Jersey, with “only” 1.1 guns per 1,000 residents, has over 102k guns in the state. Nobody in the US is lacking for access to firearms.

Gun laws in most blue states aren’t nearly as restrictive as you probably assume.

Also what’s the goal here? Civil war?

This country has 65,000 gun stores. 300+ million people. That’s a gun store for every ~5,000 people. A “small” town of 10-15k has 2-3 gun stores. Everyone has a lot of guns. Everyone.

I’m not looking for a civil war. I only ever wanted a gun for the range. However, masked and unmarked “officers” are now taking people into custody on the streets and may come knocking soon.

It feels like there are more reasons to exercise 2a rights recently.

I think that should be on the table also. Though maybe a touch early for it. They need to do that in response to something so it doesn’t look like they are the ones escalating.
