For people who says banning porn increases rape. That really feels like correlation not causation.

Armenia for example is 4th country in terms of least rape Source Yet they ban pornography. World population review. Another would be Turkmenistan.

Big difference between reported rape and actual rape.

That being said, I hope for Turkmenistan and Armenia these numbers are for actual rape, good on them if it’s low.

Both countries have strong social constructs which imo will decrease the possibilities for potential rapists to act on their urges. It is imo not that the numbers of potential rapists is lower.

What I doubt much more is that banning porn will significantly reduce actual porn consumption.

Egypt is lowest on the rape list. There is a huge stigma to report a rape in Egypt. From what I gather, nobody trusts the Egyptian numbers.

My gut tells me the situation is similar in both Armenistan and Turkmenistan. Punishment for rape might be severe, but very likely the social pressure on the victims is also immense.

Yes, I agree generalisation is bad. But, I wanted to raise a counterpoint to what everyone here was saying. The end goal for the betterment of all of us is still no rape (hopefully one day).

Texas makes up nearly half of the US’s domestic oil production, no way in hell they’d ever let that go.

I’m afraid that you’re right, and that the US will become more Texas-like as a result. It’s too oil-addicted to say no. Their transition efforts show that they expect to continue consuming high levels of oil for at least the next few decades. They’re just going to keep sending more money to Texas to open up more wells, which Texas will then use to influence national policy and prevent attempts to properly transition and build resiliency for the future. A dangerous feedback loop - especially when most major nations are trying to get away from oil reliance. Even the Saudis have started diversifying in preparation. But I guess the US made its bed, and now it must lie in it.

There’s no higher purpose for them than being edgy on the Interne.

It couldn’t be that I don’t want successful states financing conservative dystopias, right? It couldn’t be that I see conservatives controlling the US narrative and federal government as bad for everyone on the planet, right? That I understand the consequences very well, and consider it harm reduction compared to the current trajectory?

No, surely it must just be the edge.

I also raise you IVPN which is pretty comparable to Mullvad, though for similar price you only get 2 devices as opposed to 5 with Mullvad. They have better clients than Mullvad, but that’s about it.
Both Mullvad and IVPN can also be paid in cash.

There’s also AirVPN, but I am not sure about the privacy aspects of that. They’re also based in Italy, which isn’t very good. However, at 3 months or more you get same or even lower price than with Mullvad, and also 5 Forward ports.
