Did you just give us a fucking screenshot of an article headline instead of linking an actual article?
Damn straight. TBF I was a little upset when I found out about it.
Found out about what? That they haven’t actually replaced any staff with chat bots? Because that’s what this article says.
They have, I found out about that by witnessing it firsthand. This is basically the only article I could find that talks about it at all, to help provide credibility to my claim.
So, this article actually disagrees with you, it lends you no credibility at all. You said in another comment that you have evidence, I’d love to see it.
But I’ll go ahead and warn you: if your evidence is just the existence of an SMS “advisor” chat bot, I’m going to be very rude and condescending, and continue to make fun of you, because that isn’t evidence of anybody being “replaced”.
Thank you for your service. May you have a lot of peach in your life.
I don’t see how it would ever lend credibility to your claims when it doesn’t say the same thing you are saying. The closest thing the article says to what you’ve claimed is that it could be used as a tutor.
No thing is saying the thing that I’m saying except for me, but the thing I used to add credibility says that OpenAI has partnered with the University I accused of replacing people with Chatbots, which is true.
No thing is saying the thing that I’m saying except for me
Gee I wonder why. 🙄
the thing I used to add credibility says that OpenAI has partnered with the University I accused of replacing people with Chatbots, which is true.
This is like hearing that there are giant asteroids in space and jumping to the conclusion that one is headed right for earth.
This is like finding out that asteroids coming towards earth firsthand and nobody believes you because it isn’t in the tabloids yet.
You see brain drain when educated people leave an area. So does this lead to brain rot?
So now that they are saving soooooo much money on tiny little details like ‘teachers’ they will make it much cheaper to go there, right?
Tuition set to increase 1.5% for the 2024-2025 schoolyear.
I hate reality.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t university all about the human connection in addition to the knowledge? Why else would we spend our tax dollars as well as tuition. AI seems antithetical to the university/college environment.
Also antithetical to teaching complex subjects.
I used to worry that AI would help students cheat, but now it turns out it’s going to be the other way around.
I really want to spend my entire life in Academia, but the For-Profit Corporate University model has been nothing but a soulsucking nightmare the entire time I’ve been a part of it. No matter where you go in the USA it’s all the same. Sorry for the rant.
It’s ok. It was a really short rant.
All we need to do is decide to take the money back from the wealthy. I prefer the “tax the shit out of the wealthy and then start offering government jobs starting at $50/hr and yes we will compete with and/or nationalize anything we want until wages relink with or exceed productivity” method.
I am not sure why people are more mad about borders and IVF than they are about stuff like this.
Students are going to help AI cheat?
Cheating is gonna help AI student?
Really shameful, too, because ASU used to be one of the best US campuses for Molecular Biology and Clean Energy Solutions.
And to any NaySayers: They have already replaced Advisors with Chatbots. I can provide evidence if needed.
I’d love more info. I was not able to find reports of this from searching. The Verge article is mostly just a reformatted press release from ASU. :/ https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/18/24043017/openai-arizona-state-university-asu-chatgpt
Depending on the campus, Academic Advising is now only available in SMS form:
Aside from that there isn’t much coverage on the issue, but it’s happening. They’re replacing key staff with ChatGPT.
Oh my God this is hilarious.
SMS stands for SCHOOL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCE.
My dude, stop smoking weed and take some actual classes, maybe a debate class or something.
