After Google issued an apology over Gemini's refusal to produce images of 'white people' including historical figures like the founding fathers of the USA, an alleged post has been doing the rounds on social media sites claiming that the company is 'sunsetting' its flagship product, Gmail. i’ve seen multiple tweets about this, i cannot confirm, but i wouldn’t put it past google. such an endlessly pigheaded and stupid company at every turn. they’re allegedly sending these emails out sporadically to some random subset of gmail users

this is a massive blow to the internet. imagine how many old accounts will be unrecoverable.

    Nobody benefits, it’s garden variety trolling. The media outlets have been terrible lately at discerning fact from fiction, and while we all know why that is it isn’t a good enough excuse.
