I have seen a lot of tesla vandalism online the last few days and I’m kind of on the fence about it.
I’ve seen several examples locally here in BC, Canada.
I think totally warranted at newly purchased teslas going forward. Also it serves as a deterrent for potential future buyers.
But vandalizing a car that is a few years old I think is lame. Those driversare already being punished enough by driving something around that’s worth less than scrap.
I have a Tesla model 3 with my partner. It was simply the most cost effective EV for us at the time and let us do road trips easily with the super charger network, also he really likes the software updates and self driving features and stuff.
We bought it a while ago when Elon was just an idiot billionaire dick, perhaps not so different from other car makers executive boards just a bit more visibly and annoying, or at least that’s what we thought at the time. It’s worked well for us. We wouldn’t buy it again today given Elons actions in the past year especially.
Certainly I would hope our car wouldn’t be vandalized. Sometimes cars are compromises between family members with different viewpoints, sometimes they’re bought second hand, or more cheaply from older family members when they want a new car. It’s almost impossible to know the story of a car on the street.
Yet I think social pressure to stigmatize people buying teslas is a good thing at this point. Maybe leave a note, or do something non destructive. I get that may not have the same financial repercussions for teslas sales, but it should still help, while not having the detraction of potentially alienating and so listing the viewpoints of the victim of vandalism.
A person might have bought a Tesla before Elon went full Nazi. Cybertrucks are fair game however.
Mmhmm yes definitely. Felon already has their money. New ones on the lot though?
Horse feathers, he has always been a Nazi. It’s not something you suddenly catch like the flu. There is no period in his adult life where he has not had these filthy ideas.
I just think what would the other side do? Play at their level
That’s writing with a finger in dirt. It’s not vandalism.
That’s somebody elses property. It’s literally vandalism.
One time someone wrote on the dirt in the window of my truck “jesus saved me” and it made me fucking livid lol.
Yeah, no, that is not vandalism lmao
It’s defacing which is in the definition of vandalism.
This is the response of someone who doesn’t work on cars for a living. Yeah it actually does fuck up both paint and windows.
Well. I bought mine 2 years ago, and am currently trying to get something else in its place. But I need to take my kids to daycare and myself to work every day so I cannot just like dump it. So you might be vandalizing somebody who thought it was a good idea to replace a petrol car with an EV and Tesla was simply the best quality/cost solution at the time and the amount of politics involved were pretty minimal.
You might turn somebody who was mildly sympathetic to your ideas farther away from you. Definitely not going to make new allies in that way.
Cybertrucks however, fuck those things and everybody who bought them. Molotov cocktail them for all I care.
You never know what another person is really going through in life, so don’t be a dick to a stranger…
No but it is moral to smear nasty things on the vehicle.
Cybertruck pre-orders started in 2019, well before Musk’s bigotry was widely known. It was to be the first ev truck on the market, and the pre-order price was tempting. Folks paid for these things and are now stuck with them. You literally are not allowed to sell them. What should those people do?
They are bad consumers and should feel bad about it. All for it.
To me and you it might have been obvious how evil the twitter guy was even a decade ago but most people were clueless.
One of the smartest and nicest guys at my work drives a model x which I always have to use as a reminder that they are not really all bad people.
When he called a hero a pedo. That flipped the switch for me.
Absolutely!! What a fucking reveal that more people should have taken seriously.
The actual article instead of just a screenshot.

But the Cybertruck was a ridiculous vehicle even before it was available.
They’re doing a pretty good job of vandalising themselves all on their own.
No but I didn’t see who did it
Teslas in general I’m on the fence about, though people should be discouraged from purchasing new ones.
The Wankpanzer? Piss on it for all I care. Damn thing is a hazard to every pedestrian, every car, to the fucking driver themselves. That shitbox’s a mistake, and it isn’t even a cheap one. Draw on dust (“vandalize” lol), glue stickers, spray paint, what’s the harm? Gonna make a musk fan sad? He’s trying to ruin a nation. Anyone that’s still his fan needs to wake the fuck up.
Yes, just like how it is moral to pirate Adobe products
But you’re not pissing off your fellow man by doing that.
Someone who has lost the common sense to want a Cybertruck, who has the means to splurge 100k on an ugly car and actually does buy that shit car (which directly supports a fascist) is not my fellow man.
Sure other car makers are probably also owned by crypto fascists. But Elon isn’t hiding his beliefs. So anyone who buys a Cybertruck is a fascists or doesn’t care that the fascists are taking over.
Your fellow man is probably a nazi if he bought a cyber truck.
Personally, I don’t consider it moral at all. They spent a lot of money on that thing. And what if people on the other side decide to vandalize back?
This looks like relatively harmless vandalism. What if it escalates?
What if car vandalism isn’t enough, what if they burn your house down? Or you to them?
I just think it’s an ugly way to live & nothing good comes from messing with shit that isn’t yours. In this case, the fitting punishment is already applied & by their own hand. Rapid depreciation, vehicles that rust in car washes, virtually no product support, expensive to maintain, ridicule from others…idk. I think that’s enough on its own.
Nope.
