Do they not? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
AFAIK an active sitting president technically doesn’t have clearance unless they go through the investigation for it. they just have an inherent right to view classified documents.
Same reason the president gets a paycheck, it would be prohibitive otherwise to limit your pool of candidates
Traditionally, former Presidents are given intelligence briefings and will be asked their opinion on various matters. Obviously, Trump is the most knowingest person to ever exist and don’t need no advice from brain inferiors.
