True, but for someone like her with only a private Instagram and Facebook account for closest friends and family as social media 20k in a few days is definitely a lot, hahaha.

Not sure if 20k bots is a lot. There’s no easier way to get people to use your platform than showering them in fake followers.

They’re bots just because it’s a Chinese app…? From what I’ve seen Rednote is actually doing the opposite of wanting to attract foreigners. Lots of followers is the exception not the rule.

Also they are about to wall off the non Chinese users so she about to lose that 20k followers and be left in a version of tiktok refugees. If I were you I encourage her to not use that app. But be prepared for her followers to disappear and her being upset.

I’m curious how the situation will develop too. News say the China Central Television supports the influx and inter-national exchange, while some Chinese nationalists are wary of American influence and want measures against it. We’ll live and see. Either way the US Tiktok ban is idiotic.

Rednote isn’t trying to attract foreign users. It’s only blowing up because of the imminent app ban affecting TikTok, same as other apps like Lemon8.
