    Assad wasn’t toppled by just one group of rebels, but by the Kurds and Turkey as well. Was it coordinated? Sure. Was there a guarantee of success? I suspect not.

      I think more to the point, this feels like a ‘duh.’ The U.S. was against Assad, has people training the rebels and has some of the best intelligence in the region. It would be a bigger story if the U.S. just sat back and did nothing and it happened anyway.
