like almost in a colloquial sense more than the actual austere boring medical answer. it feels like there must be a holistic connection there or something.
doctors don’t know shit lol, they love answering shit like this with shit like ‘ACJKSULLY current medical science has determined that there is no direct connection and any positive feeling you may feel is purely placebo, you’re welcome for disabusing you of this notion’ nevermind that 100 years ago they were prescribing people whiskey for depression and still believed in the humors
i mean it sure is refreshing
Are you referring to how pouring warm water over your head can wake you up? I’d cold water if that’s what you’re wanting. Also no doctor would tell you that this doesn’t work, obviously rapid stimulation of your nerves will make you feel more awake
Physical and Mental Effects of Bathing: A Randomized Intervention Study
Suggests a hot bath is more effective than a hot shower.
But finishing up with a cold shower might boost your immune system (or make you less likely to pull sickie):
The Effect of Cold Showering on Health and Work: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Both crappy trials but at least I looked for them. Instead of deciding that medical science is unlikely to have made any progress in a century. Wut?
It’s not the “holistic” answer you’re looking for, but I believe the Mythbusters tested whether a slap to the face can wake a sleep-deprived person up. I can’t find the episode so if you want to look into it you can search for it.
Your “doctors don’t know shit” comment earns you no points for anything btw.
My favorite thing about this community is how often I find out that there actually are stupid questions.
Science exists to figure out what really, actually does work. Smart people were still figuring that out at the turn of the last century.
Most smart people have figured it out now. Dumb people are still not testing their ideas.
