Maybe I’m just face-blind or being dense but the photos from the scene of the crime look like a different dude than the ginning hostel check in guy. The jackets and backpacks are different. Although people can have multiple jackets and backpacks. We don’t see much of the shooters face but the eyebrows look different. Although, people can pluck/shave eyebrows. I guess the happy hostel guy would have come forward and been like “WTF?” and “I have an alibi” if it wasn’t him?

I mean, typically I’d agree with you, but there’s a small chance that this is smarter than a lot of people are initially thinking (but still fucked up none the less) … maybe someone at NYPD found a video / picture of a dude that they know was not the dude. Maybe they have evidence that the guy in this picture in the green jacket is 100% innocent. Maybe they arrest him, his lawyer gets him out and they all of a sudden have no leads at all. Cold case.

Someone needs to paint some eyes in the pocket flaps and post it as a meme on the police website to just rub it in how fucking off they are on something so obvious.

Agreed. What I don’t get is that the backpack seems to be a very different color.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist (I don’t think), but the backpack is the inconsistency that’s interesting to me.

Easy enough to be using more than one bag.

But the front pockets on the jacket are different. The zipper pull is different.

The fabric on the left is crisper, looks plasticized, and is waterproofed, while the one on the right is fluffy and soft.

It’s all very subtle, the pictures are low quality. It’s likely not the same guy, but they’re starving to have someone in custody.

Yeah, every hour they don’t have this dude in custody makes them look incompetent, especially for the billionaire class who have so far provided a LOT of cover for the police. This makes the NYPD look especially bad, given their nationwide rep as “the best PD in the country” among us plebs and the fact that their numbers eclipse several small national militaries.

Nationwide rep? All I ever hear about them from out of state is corruption and illegal shakedowns. FDNY gets all the glory.

I thought the same thing. They have more video footage and we are seeing only 2 stills from it, but the coats are definitely different. But the hostel footage was from when he was checking in days earlier than the day of the shooting.

They will find someone that roughly fits the description and he won’t make it to jail alive… Case closed nothing to see here… Or something entirely different may happen…

The clothing color could be due to lighting. Remember the blue black dress meme? Multiple backpacks is too easy. So that’s a non-issue.

That being said. Why isn’t anyone considering that maybe the cops couldn’t give a shit either. But they have to try because the money people said so.

That’s what I think as well. The assassin hopped on a bike and pedaled off to Central Park.

Personally I think he had a different clothes going into the city. Changed in CP, Stole a bike, then biked to the hotel did the deed. Biked back to CP ditched the clothes and bike and left the city.

I don’t think lighting makes a light grey backpack into black. That’s a bit of a stretch. Especially considering the jacket on the left have no chest pockets. The one on the right has massive pocket flaps like they are the main character.

It’s more than incompetent. It’s that they can’t get caught. That there is a way to execute and not be held accountable. If that knowledge hits the masses it’s a public relations nightmare.

He’s shown a high degree of planning so far. Bringing a decoy bag and being casual in front of CCTV in not-his-clothes seems on the money at the moment. As soon as I heard he made a beeline for central park I bet he has a change of outfit and strolled out looking totally different. Sure enough they’ve found a bag in the park they think was his. He’s 2 to 3 steps ahead of them…

Why? Seems safer to just keep your head down. He didn’t do anything, why should he let the cops try to pin it on him?

A bunch of comments on here and Reddit about how police will do everything they can to make sure he’s seen as a threat during arrest and kill him? I don’t think that’s the case, but if this guy has nothing to do with it and felt the same it would be much safer to just walk into a police station and get ruled out of the investigation. Better that than risk a cop spotting him one day and thinking himself a hero.

It’s cold, need something. “No jacket” would call attention. Gotta both be pretty nondescript not to call attention too, no hot pink or sports teams (maybe yankees in the city, but if he leaves NYC nondescript is better.)

I really don’t know this guy has a long term plan. If I were to bed, his wife died after denied insurance. Or possibly a close family member or friend. The fact that he could afford health insurance or had it through an employer implies he probably had a decent job. So a person he was planning to grow old with is now dead, his plans for the future are ruined, probably doesn’t care about an item that costs a few hundred dollars. Maybe he wants to see how long he can evade the cops, but something tells me if they ever do catch the actual murderer, he’s not going to care much as in his eyes he lost his future when the person he cared about died.

Can’t say personally seen any of the security footage but from the sounds of it this guy was mingling with the crowd and not drawing attention to himself as well as able to book it down the alleyway. It’s not improbable that he’s terminally ill himself, but it’s hard for me to believe he’d be at a stage the doctor(s) said he was incurable/insurance denied him but still not far enough along it’s not affecting him in anyway noticeable way.
