LG is really trying to impress people with their inverters. I had to read the owners manual to figure out what the hell the inverter button was. It’s just Defrost or Cook buttons with “inverter” in front of the names.

Irrelevant, but for those who care: LGs “smart inverter” just manages the temperature of the inverter circuit for efficiency. Cooler electronics are generally better.

Got this as a wedding gift over 3 years ago.

Absolutely love it and the door is self closing. You can slam it and it catches itself and shuts on its own. I assume that is what you mean.

Reason I’m asking is I am wanting to buy one. I find most of them so jolting I have put off having one for a long time.

I also never understood why microwaves need to be so loud. My dishwasher, hell even my washing machine are very quiet in comparisson.

They need to dissipate a lot of waste heat from the magnetron and have to use a fan.

Those other appliances don’t generate a lot of heat in a small space that must be air cooled.

Buy the thinnest adhesive weather stripping you can find, and stick a patch in the appropriate place between the door and latch area. That’s the zone that makes the KERCHUNK.

Whenever I accidentally make a loud noise late at night, I always have to say “jee-sus” under my breath, just in case anyone heard it they know it wasn’t my intention.
