People share it on Facebook and it pops up in my feed, so I go to reddit to see what people are saying and… censorship. Locked comments because they’re afraid of words
I talk to my friends. We even get together every weekend. Some I see every few months. Some during events. Lunches, dinners, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, concerts, movies. Sometimes just because some of us all happen to have the same day off.
Family is the same way. People can communicate fine without Facebook, and we did so for thousands of years.
ty ty… i don’t mind a bit of horse play but i have heard people saying sometimes we are not welcoming, so i try to give fresh meat a pleasant entrance.
we get into a pissing match about something with more gravitas.
Every time I see someone say a ridiculous name in the comments, I immediately look back at the previous comment to see the username and laugh. This is the first time I was fooled.
Edit: Oh wait, I wasn’t fooled. I just didn’t go far enough!
Too many people say nothing when it’s mentioned, so tacit approval is assumed.
I’ve blocked sites like Twitter and FB, etc, on all my devices and networks. My friends and family still send me links, after I’ve repeatedly told them my devices can’t go to those websites (I’ve never once in my life been on either one).
So I think it’s appropriate to point out using FB is as problematic as Reddit (worse actually. It needs to be continually said.
FB had the Cambridge Analytica scandal that exposed how bad it is, and people still use it 🤦🏼♂️. They had tracking pixels for years, and whole I’ve never even visited the FB website, those bastards have a profile on me.
I don’t disagree but there is a line, and we should not be pushing people away. I think a discussion such as this will convey the message better though so person can receive the info in non confrontational manner. Common sense should result in more users since good facts are on fediverse side. Everyone is a future fedi user they just don’t know it yet lol
Being an election related thread it probably turned into a bunch of toddlers shouting fuck you at each other and they probably locked it because of that.
That’s the thing about that sort of censorship though, you can only guess what it might have been. Your guess seems plausible, but it’s just a guess, and when the guess that Reddit mods were acting in good faith turns out to have been wrong, they don’t want you to know about it.

Yeah lmao how else do you keep up with friends? You can unironically still use Facebook for friends only using Feeds > Friends

Meh, no one should be on Facebook.

Why are you on Facebook in the first place?
Being an election related thread it probably turned into a bunch of toddlers shouting fuck you at each other and they probably locked it because of that.
