Hi everyone,
I’ve recently installed bazzite and am quite happy with how it’s working out so far. The only thing I’ve noticed is that whenever I start a browser ( wether it is the first start or the Nth start ) it will always take around 5 seconds until the firefox window starts.
I think this is related to the fact that it’s a flatpak. I used Ubuntu a few years ago and always thought firefox was piss slow needing 10+ seconds to just start. When I realized it was a snap package and installed the flatpak instead the startup time improved to 3-6 seconds. Installing the debian package made firefox starting nearly instantly.
What is the correct way to tackle this? Is there something I can do to speed up the firefox flatpak? I suppose I can install the RPM or install it through rpm-ostree. But that is the least recommended option.
https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Distrobox/ seems like an option - in which case I’d set up a distrobox for firefox specifically?
This is not gaming related. Mine starts with expected speeds. Maybe try launching it through a terminal to see if there’s any peculiar output that could be the culprit. And if you imported an old profile, try a fresh one to see if the issue persists.
