Can somebody point to a link where I can read more about this?

The github readme sounds unhinged btw.

    Seriously? From the README:

I would like to first fix the kernel headers issues that break the UAPI for C++ compilers (because they use C++ keywords that break C++ code) and the Windows filesystem (Windows filesystem is case-insensitive, so some headers cannot be stored on Windows filesystems).

I can’t wait to see this kernel become dependent on .NET

If you’re wondering, this is what embrace, extend and extinguish looks like.

Linus Torvalds has been sold out to big tech companies like Google and Microsoft.

    Starts with such a banger…

He himself is a billionaire and no longer writes any code.

Is he though? Even if he is, didn’t he deserve it more than any other billionaire. Linux is FOSS after all and changed the world and IT dramatically. The money from Linux isn’t in his hand, but in the hands of Linux Foundation as far as I know. Linus didn’t make much money from Linux. Otherwise where is the evidence for this claim? I’m not against any evidence, I’m just against spreading false information. Also he does a lot still and maintains the project with lot of other people.

Many people, including myself, are very unhappy with his decisions, like the removal of several Russian developers from kernel maintainership status.

Ah, its about that. So anything else is not the real reason, its about the politics. I don’t know if this is justified or not, as I don’t know much about this situation.

Reading further its also the person is unhappy that C++ is not in the Kernel (but Rust got). I’m glad that people take matters in their own hand and fork if they are unhappy (regardless of any reason), but what is the point of this fork other than just being a fork? I wish that person or group good luck.

Honestly, no matter how weird and filled with lies this project is, we technically do need a fork of the kernel after the recent Linus’s racist political decision.

He removed all Russian contributors, called them Russia supporters and said that his decision is good basically. Ik most people will still trust Linus because of everything good he did but for me it was an obvious red flag.

Maintainers (not contributers or their contributions) associated with sanctioned russian companies were removed. The Linux foundation is a legal entity that has to comply with international sanctions.

While I agree with the sentiment, the decision to remove these maintainers seems to have been purely legally based. It stands to reason that the Linux foundation will follow and remove sanctioned Israeli maintainers if they end up on a list of sanctioned companies/people.

I don’t have any confirmations of your points, mister/miss so I’ll consider them anti-Russia lies until proven otherwise.

The Linux foundation is a legal entity that has to comply with international sanctions.

Even if it’s true, it’s still a red flag. They could rebase to another country like Huawei did.

Honestly if they don’t get paid for contributing/maintaining, they actually make Russia lose money instead of earning it because they could maintain something in a Russian company instead. It’s all a matter of perspective. Also Linus’s explanation had hate speech vibes which cannot be justified and is obviously a racist act.

The kernel and its changes are open source, you can just look at the changes that were made.

So the Russian maintainers couldn’t insert something malicious into it. But yea looking at the source changes directly is better than trusting some biased articles.

Your words, not mine. If they were afraid of malicious code coming from these sources they would’ve removed them earlier and not only after their legal department recommend these maintainers be removed.

Open source doesn’t mean that malicious code isn’t impossible though. For a project as large as the Linux kernel it is unlikely, but see the xz-utils incident earlier this year for example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XZ_Utils_backdoor

From the repository which has some “See here” and no hyperlinks, is this a mirror or what? That’d explain so many claims and no proof to back it up, just point fingers but don’t make your case:

    Cinux

Linus Torvalds has been sold out to big tech companies like Google and Microsoft. He himself is a billionaire and no longer writes any code.

Since when he became billionaire? Explain more on:

Linus Torvalds has been sold out to big tech companies like Google and Microsoft.

It looks like more lack of understanding of licenses if you are talking about some of their employees being involved in the kernel development.

Many people, including myself, are very unhappy with his decisions, like the removal of several Russian developers from kernel maintainership status.

Many people like how much? Also lacking references.

since Rust language developers and Rust foundations are very hostile to Russia and China

Also heavy claim and no reference to back it up.

oh, they have forked the linux kernel, so cute!
I mean, this is an individual forking it, not a group of people, right?

but reading the first 2 paragraphs, they are so full of shit that I wouldn’t trust them with a butter knife.
