Same problem, OP. I used to get em from reddit, now almost exclusively Lemmy.
I’ve found good source images on the community tab of history documentary channels on YouTube, like this one
Imgur mostly, since reddit died.

Reddit unfortunately. Every so often I’ll search for a topic online and in the related posts/communities section I will find an obscure one and just see what the top voted posts are
