Sorry for this rant but I’m done signing up for each online forum. Almost all of the big companies have clunky unmaintained forums that are a mess to navigate.

I wonder why they don’t just spin up a Lemmy instance, it’s basically free, so people can just use their Lemmy account for all of them. Also it’d boost their interactions and replies.

    Forums and lemmy have very different user experiences. Forums tend to have long running threads, sometimes with tens of thousands of replies over years. They also bump up threads when there’s a reply.

      Agreed, I think a better approach would be to add in federation to existing forum platforms, even the older ones. Then we could have repositories of the information shared rather than single sources of truth.

      I was just on the EA forum for a Dragon Age bug I was having, and found the answer in a post form 13 years ago. It kills me that EA could just flip a switch and that would all be gone.
