It’s clearly spoofing something culturally relevant, but I’ve never known what famous movie it’s based upon.

I’ve never seen this movie, but understand it (through cultural osmosis) to be depicting the movie “The Graduate”…

…I think Simon and Garfunkel has a song about the movie “Here’s to you Mrs. Robertson”… And that the Simpsons also references the movie when Skinner asks someone “Are you trying to seduce me?”

…I think The Simpsons also reproduce the wedding scene via Abe Simpson at some point.

…It’s a movie about an older woman and a younger man (the Graduate) becoming a couple.

This is a really funny comment to read if you’ve actually seen the movie.

      1. The song is Mrs. Robinson
      2. The song isn’t “about the movie”, Simon and Garfunkel literally composed the song for the movie. The soundtrack of that movie is entirely Simon and Garfunkel songs.

Close! Mrs Robinson is the name of the song and the older woman in the movie. While the younger man is being seduced by the older woman (who happened to be a married family friend), her daughter who is around his age catches his eye.

      Tap for spoiler

The movie is about the fallout of the affair and Dustin Hoffman attempting to date the daughter.

I’m pretty sure they used the same church to do the same thing in Bubble Boy as well. Except in that he just bursts through the front door.
