This historic site underwent several restorations, with the most recent reconstruction starting in 2008, funded by Qatar, following its total demolition during the 2006 Israeli war on Lebanon.
Anything funded by Qatar has me suspicious.
Wow, the princes of Qatar took this comment very seriously.
Kind of crazy actually. I don’t know if I have seen any comment so downvoted on Lemmy
Qatar is not build on a stolen land and indigenous mass graves like Canada. I trust Qatar more than my own country
Move there then
I would if I could. I’m from Saudi Arabia though. Becoming Qatari would be a huge material upgrade, they even have outdoor air conditioning.

Half of Canadian news media is owned by the same right-wing American corporation. You’re one to talk.
Calling out western hypocrisy and racism is a grave sin.
I don’t get it
We’re not exactly happy about that.
I can’t hate Israel anymore, my hate already went up to 11. Even some of our waffling liberals who were misled into believing Israel was a democracy are being turned off. Israel is creating enemies faster than it can murder them and not just in the “collar nations”.
Israel is making sure it will always be a hated pariah. The young generations that didn’t witness 1948 or 1967 have witnessed 2023 and the spirit to resist has been renewed.
Perhaps the only ‘benefit’ of this evil is that the irony isn’t going undeeded and Israel is distinguishing itself from the diaspora en bloc.
For context, this building was destroyed in the 2006 second Lebanese war when Hezbollah militia was using it as cover. It was supposedly rebuilt in 2009 but it yet again is being occupied by Hezbollah.
You guys should wait for credible sources before you say anything.
Very sad hopefully they will rebuild.
