My blue civic back in 2005 was nicknamed cobalt. “You can take cobalt to pick dad up at the airport”. Something I had picked up from Gone in 60 seconds that I found cool (naming cars, not cobalt)

“Chaser” because we live out in the country and use it to pick up our dogs who sometimes wander off and we have to go retrieve. Also, because it’s a Chevy. It’s Chevy Chase_r_.

We own a Rose Gold Fiat 500 electric, aptly named Lady Penelope.

Curious to see if anyone will spot the correct reference:)

I have named some of the cars I have owned.

1970 Chevy Impala: Liberty. I purchased it from a guy that lived in Liberty, KY.

1997 Nissan 200SX SE-R: Dot. It was one of ~700 200SX’s made that year that was the Pacific Blue color and it reminded me of Carl Sagan’s “The Pale Blue Dot” documentary.

2003 Acura TL: Sally. No specific reason, other than it just fit the personality of the car.

2014 Camry (current car): Pearl. It’s painted in Toyota’s Cosmic Mica Gray and it glitters in the sunlight, vaguely reminiscent of a pearl.

Just for reference, I’m 54 and have had a license since 1986. Liberty was my first car. There are a few cars not mentioned above, because I just never named them. The 200SX was the second SE-R I owned. The first was a 92 Sentra SE-R, which I liked a lot more than the 200SX, it just never got a name.

Every gray car I have (always a hatchback) has been named “Vanship” after the flying vehicles in the anime Last Exile

It’s just a nickname I know, I don’t refer to the car like that to others

My current car is named Lizzie, after Tin Lizzie, despite the fact that it’s in great shape. The first car I had was a rusted out ‘93 Impreza we called Tin Lizzie. So when I got my newest car and the license plate started with LZZ, I took it as a sign to bring the name back.

My first car was a 96 f-150 the previous owner named “Maurice” I didn’t change it cause it supposed to be bad luck. Then I had a 2001 Pontiac grand am I called “Jaun claude” which I was rather proud of. My current one is just “V” cause it’s a Ford Fusion Hybrid and the engine looks like it came out of cyberpunk.

My spouse had a suped up Challenger named Gurtrude. It was a funny reaction when people saw it for the first time. They expected a beater.
